It is very easy to migrate your existing domain(s) to VivoSites and to start enjoying the great features and prices of our plans. Just follow the following steps and do not hesitate to ask for our support if you encouter any difficulties. You may also consult our Hosting Manual for detailed information about the features of our hosting packages.
Step 1. - Set Up Your New Account The first step is to choose one of our hosting plans that is most suited for your site needs and to place your hosting order. While filling out the order form, choose the "Transfer Existing Domain" Option, provide all required domain and billing information, and submit the order form. Once payment is confirmed, we will setup your account immediately and send you a welcome message containing the new login information for your account. Once this step is complete, you can start uploading your site to our servers using the IP number (if your account is IP-based) or a temporary ftp location that we provide you. However, since your domain is still pointing to your old host, you will not be able to bring up your site by typing your domain name. The following steps explain how you can make your domain name point to the new IP. Regardless of the plan you choose (VivoBasic, VivoPower, or VivoDeluxe), the remaining two steps are identical. Step 2. - Modify Your DNS InformationDNS is an acronym that stands for "Domain Name Server." In order for your domain name to point to your new site, you will need to change the DNS information that is on record with your domain registrar (the company you registered your domain through). All you have to do to accomplish this is to contact the Domain Registrar and provide our name server information. This is usually done online by filling out a DNS or Name Server Modification form. Your new DNS information should be: Primary Server: NS1.VIVOSITES.COM Secondary Server: NS2.VIVOSITES.COM Once you submit your DNS modification, it usually takes effect within 24-48 hours. You can test this by typing in your domain and seeing if it takes you to your new site on our servers. Step 3. - Cancel Your Old Hosting Account (Optional :)Once your domain modifications are complete and your domain name is working with your new hosting account on our servers, make sure you download and backup any information you have stored on your old account. Then, you can finally perform the step you have waited for: cancel your old hosting account and start enjoying our great plans and prices. |
